Minnesota Ag Connection - 11/26/2019

The Minnesota AgriGrowth Council has selected Christopher "Chris" Cook, Head of Enogen for Syngenta, as a member of the board of directors.

"AgriGrowth board members are known for their expertise in all aspects of agriculture and business. Chris' experience in seed innovation and stewardship are a great addition to our board," said Pat Lunemann, chairman of the AgriGrowth Board of Directors, "We welcome him and look forward to his leadership and input into ways technology can improve efficiencies in crop, ethanol, and livestock production."

Cook is head of the Enogen business for Syngenta. Enogen technology is an in-seed innovation that enhances ethanol production and feed efficiency while also offering growers the opportunity to earn a premium for an identity preserved crop. Chris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from South Dakota State University in Brookings. His past experience with Farmland Industries and then Syngenta provides him with knowledge across all crop and technology platforms as well as significant hands-on expertise in stewardship and stakeholder relations.

"As someone who grew up in a family-owned grocery business and then chose to follow my passion for agriculture, I've often wondered how those two experiences might come together," said Cook, "I couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to support AgriGrowth in its mission to help shape the consumer's understanding of the food they eat and how it gets to their plate."

Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, Syngenta is a global agricultural company helping to improve global food security by enabling millions of farmers to make better use of available resources. Syngenta has multiple facilities across the U.S., including five Syngenta Seeds offices in Minnesota, one of which is its Seedcare Institute in Dennison.

"Chris Cook's background and technical experience is helping farmers and agribusiness be more productive in an environmentally sustainable way across Minnesota," said Tamara Nelsen, executive director for Minnesota AgriGrowth, "We welcome Chris to our board of directors and look forward to his leadership."
