By Scout Nelson

February 2024 marks the return of two important agricultural conferences in Minnesota: The Nitrogen Conference in St. Cloud on February 13th and the Nutrient Management Conference in Mankato on February 20th.

These events, crucial for soil scientists, educators, and producers, aim to shed light on effective nitrogen and nutrient management strategies, enhancing soil health and water quality.

Both conferences feature a comprehensive lineup of topics. The Nitrogen Conference will explore areas such as sugarbeet nitrogen requirements, manure management, the use of cover crops to reduce nitrogen loss, and innovative funding opportunities for growers. Highlights include talks by experts like Alan Blaylock from Nutrien and David Franzen from NDSU.

The Nutrient Management Conference will explore nutrient bioavailability, the use of agricultural biologicals, and effective nutrient management strategies with cover crops. Featured speakers include Fabian Fernandez from the University of Minnesota and Matt Ruark from the University of Wisconsin, among others.

Each conference requires a registration fee of $20, covering both in-person and virtual attendance options. Attendees can look forward to a comprehensive educational experience, complete with lunch for those joining in person. Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in soil & water and nutrient management.
